THE COCTAILS PLAY SHOWS IN DECEMBER 2005

LIVE IN-STORE PERFORMANCE AT ROTOFUGI Thursday Dec. 15th, 2005 7pm
(Rotofugi Designer Toy Store & Gallery -- 1953 W. Chicago Ave., Chicago)

LIVE SHOW AT THE ABBEY PUB Sunday Dec. 18th, 2005 8pm
(Abbey Pub 3420 W Grace St Chicago (773)478-4408)

The Coctails were a band that toured extensively and recorded records
between 1989 and 1996. They released their first LP “Hip Hip Hooray” in
Kansas City, MO. and soon after moved to Chicago, IL where they went on to
release five more studio LPs, a live LP, as well as many singles and EPs all
on their own Hi-Ball Records imprint (as well as on CD by Carrot Top
Records). The members were and remain Archer Prewitt, Mark Greenberg, Barry
Phipps, and John Upturch.

Since disbanding in 1996, the band has reunited on a few special occasions.
First in 2001 as the very last band to play on the Lounge Ax stage before
the legendary Chicago rock club closed its doors for good. The next was to
open for the reunited Pixies at the Aragon Theatre, Chicago in Nov. of 2004.
That same year Carrot Top Records released a three CD retrospective box set
entitled “Popcorn Box” and the Coctails played a record release party on the
five-year anniversary of the last night of Lounge Ax. The Coctails also
toured Japan this past July.

Presspop Gallery/Music in Japan has released 12” action figures of each
member of the band. They come in attractively printed boxes, have full
movement, and are dressed in specially designed Coctails clothing (see link
below). The Rotofugi in-store is a celebration for the release of the action
figures. The store with have a good supply of them on hand.

For the 2005 Japanese tour, the Coctails reunited in the studio to produce
an eight song EP for Japanese only release for the Presspop label. The
result is the 10” EP called “Let’s Enjoy – The Coctails”. The Abbey show
will be a celebration for the release of that record, now available in the
US through CTD distribution.

Opening the Abbey show will be HOLIDAY MUSIC
(http://www.tightshiprecords.com).

Photos here.

We've just installed some new gallery software, and on a new subdomain to boot, so it isn't pretty yet and it may not even work for some people until the DNS gets updated round the globe....

Anyway, from now on, when we post event photos and such it'll always be at:
